Ionic Strength Adjusters (ISA) Hanna Ionic Strength Adjusters (ISA) are formulated to provide a constant ionic strength in sample and standards alike, thus permitting concentration rather than activity measurements to be made. In some cases ISAs adjust pH and eliminate matrix effects.
